Strong Byemoor showing at 4H show

Congratulations to the members of the Byemoor 4-H Beef Club on a very successful show and sale, which was held in Stettler on May 19 and 20. The Byemoor members made a very impressive showing.

The Cleaver Show, Inter-club Female Show and Inter-club Judging were held on the first day of the show. Cleaver members were Riggin Buchwitz, Cale Johnson, Eli Rausch and Makena Sorensen. They showed baby calves and learned a lot about 4-H. 

Congratulations to Byemoor members on their wins at the heifer show —Reserve Grand Champion yearling - Rylee Charbonneau, Reserve Grand Champion 2 Year Old – Tulsa Smith and Reserve Grand Champion Female Overall – Tulsa Smith.
In the Inter-club Judging Competition it was Junior Champion – Tulsa Smith; Reserve – Brielle Sorensen. Reserve Intermediate Judging – Rylee Carbonneau and Reserve Senior Judging – Addison Charbonneau. 

The second day was the Steer Show and Sale. The Byemoor Club won the coveted Grand Champion Pen of Five steers award again, for the third year straight and also won the highest Rate of Gain in the district –Rylee Charbonneau’s steer at 4.20 lbs. / day.

At the Byemoor Club show, the steer placings were: Junior – 1. Tulsa Smith 2. Rowen Hallett; Intermediate – 1. Cole Carbonneau  2. Alerie Sorensen; Senior – 1. Addison Charbonneau. Byemoor Champion Steer – Tulsa Smith; Reserve Champion Steer – Addison Charbonneau.

In Inter-club Team Grooming — Grand Champion Junior groomers – Tulsa Smith and Brielle Sorensen. Reserve Champion Intermediate groomers – Kesler Watts and Alerie Sorensen. Reserve Champion Senior groomers – Addison and Rylee Charbonneau.

Byemoor swept the Inter-club Showmanship classes — Junior Champion showman – Tulsa Smith; Intermediate Champion showman – Alerie Sorensen; Reserve – Rylee Charbonneau and Senior Champion showman – Addison Charbonneau.
Inter-club Record Books competition — Junior – Brielle Sorensen; Reserve – Tulsa Smith. Intermediate – Alerie Sorensen. Senior reserve (tie)- Addison Charbonneau.

Congratulations to the Junior Achiever winner – Brielle Sorensen and Senior Top Hand winner – Addison Charbonneau and Byemoor’s Most Dedicated member – Ethan Riley.

The 4-H steer sale prices were very strong and the members were justly rewarded for their hard work.

Congratulations to all the members on the great work they did with their projects and what they learned during the year. In the 4-H program everyone is a winner.

Sympathy is extended to the family of Wayne Erion, who passed away at Castor on May 8 at the age of 73 years. Wayne is survived by his children Keith (Janine) Erion, Tammy (Lyle) Renschler and Darcy (Stacey) Erion and eight grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Lloyd (Sheila) Erion and Loren (Peggy) Erion and many other relatives and friends.

Our thoughts are with the Erion and Buchwitz families in their sad loss of this fine man.

Congratulations to the 2025 Graduating Class of J.C. Charyk High School in Hanna, who had their graduation ceremonies on May 23. Local graduates include Sullivan Buchwitz and Easton Scheerschmidt. We wish all the graduates the best of luck in their future endeavours. 

Sullivan is the son of Kelly and Bobbi Buchwitz and grandson of Luann Buchwitz and Doug Carmichael (Jane).

Hayden is the son of Cody and Alicia Scheerschmidt and grandson of Larry and Lorene Stulberg.

Remember the Scapa Strawberry Tea is on Monday, June 2 at the Scapa Hall at 2 p.m. Doors open at 1 p.m.  Come and enjoy the entertainment, door prizes, dessert and refreshments. Everyone is welcome. Admission is by donation.

Seniors be sure to take in the Senior’s Week Coffee Party at Endmoor Drop-Centre in Byemoor is on Tuesday, June 3.

Regular card games are at 1 p.m., and the County fruit tray with coffee and goodies will be served at 2 p.m.

All seniors are welcome to come celebrate Seniors' Week in Byemoor, join for the whole afternoon or drop by at 2 p.m. for the coffee party.

The Byemoor Centennial Celebration is fast approaching on June 7. The parade kicks off the event at 11 a.m. with marshalling at 10 a.m. at the Byemoor School grounds. The Opening Ceremonies immediately follow at noon at the Community Hall, followed by an afternoon and evening full of events.
