Now that spring is in the air, organizers with the Stettler United Church are preparing for the annual Spring Fair on May 5.

Over a dozen vendors are expected at the Saturday fair, selling a variety of baking, vegetables, artisan goods, and other items such as antiques from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“We have everything from health and beauty products, to homemade craft items such as pottery, as well as plant starters for your garden,” said organizer Eileen Scheerschmidt with the Spring Fair committee.

“There will be a kids carnival with games, and we will also have our very popular frozen pie sale, with fruit and moon pies. People can also stop by for a lunch of pulled pork on the bun and hot dogs. There will also be fresh pie and coffee there for sale,” said Scheerschmidt.

“There’s going to be a great variety of events, with the garage sale items as well, which we’ve had other years,” said Scheerschmidt.

“But this is the first year where we’re offering the tables to rent for the vendors, and they can bring whatever they would like to sell.”

“Other years we have had many of these things, but it was a lot of work on our end, and then we would have all these leftover items to deal with. This way, people bring whatever they’re selling and take it away again.”

The event has been going on for the past 15 years or so to raise funds to maintain the church, and for community and outreach missions. The fundraiser also helps the downstairs food bank, and others using the space such as the art, scrap-booking and youth groups to name a few.

“It’s an opportunity to celebrate spring, and it’s a fun community event every year. We have something for kids, and adults alike, and everyone is welcome.”
