Gertie Savage of Stettler has good reason to smile. She turned 100 on Aug. 11 and celebrated her centennial birthday with family members and friends. Savage is the last surviving member of her immediate family.

One of Stettler’s earliest citizens turned 100 this month.

Savage was born Aug. 9, 1911, in the Red Willow District.

Most of her schooling was at Wild Rose School and she later attended Bignel School.

Savage, the last surviving member of her immediate family, had six sisters and six brothers.

She has seen many changes in her lifetime and her milestone birthday is truly a remarkable achievement.
