Family Literacy Day is on January 27.

It is an annual Alberta-wide event where each of you does your part by reading for 15 minutes. Help us win the title of most readerly community in Alberta and we could earn the coveted imitation, faux, simulated crystal trophy!

Report your minutes of reading anything on Jan. 27 by calling us, emailing spl@prl.ab.ca, sharing a picture of your reading with us by Facebook or Instagram, or filling out a form on our website.

Children:

Read & Rhyme is a favourite activity for little ones aged 0- 5 and their parents or caregivers.

We tell stories, sing songs, practice rhymes, and have fun together without even realizing we’re developing emerging literacy skills! Join us Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 10:30 a.m.

Then, download the free 1000 Books Before Kindergarten app to help you keep track of your family reading progress. To motivate you, we offer small prizes when you reach your goals.

Something Cool After School has boredom-busting plans for kids aged 6 and up on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4 p.m.
