The itch to get outdoors in the recent shirt-sleeve weather needn’t spell the end of learning. At Stettler Public Library, we’re more than just books; there’s something for every interest and age group from tots to seniors.
For those with a green thumb, why not pick up a baby aloe vera plant at the library to add to your plant collection? They’re just $5 for a small and $10 for a large and all proceeds go to library programs.
Kids:
Fill the minds of your little ones with a love for books. Read & Rhyme for little ones 0-5 years old happens on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 10:30 a.m.
With the last leg of the school year underway, take advantage of free in-person or Zoom tutoring services at the library to be sure the students in your household get all the help they need. Our staff can also help you tap into Solaro, an online learning platform for math, English, and sciences for Grades 3 to 12.
On Thur, May 19 at 4 p.m. we’ll be using India ink to make unique coasters. For ages 6 and up.
Get creative with clay next week as we make 2D plasticine sceneries that you can put on your wall. Call to sign up for either Tue, May 24 or Thur, May 26 at 4 p.m. Ages 6 and up.
Are you obsessed with computers? Have fun learning to code on Sat, May 21. We are requesting that you register your children aged 6-8 and those new to coding for the 10:30 session. Children with some experience coding and 8+ should sign up for the 12 p.m. session.
Teen Scene:
Ever try playing Pictionary blindfolded? Challenge your drawing, memory, and speed skills with fun games for ages 10 and older on Thur, May 19 at 6 p.m. Call to sign up.
Small art makes a big impact. Join us to create your own miniature painting on Thur, May 26 at 6 p.m. For ages 10 and up.
Adults:
There’s still time to get a copy of The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry, an unforgettable tale of transformation and second chances, by Gabrielle Zevin. The Reader’s Circle book club meets on Tue, May 31 at 6:30 p.m. for a lively discussion of the book.
Try your hand at onscreen JackBox games, as well as VR and board games, too. Drop in between 6 and 8 p.m. on Thur, May 19.
If you love to write, why not meet monthly with like-minded people for an evening of receiving feedback on your writing and responding to others’ work. This month the Stettler Writer’s Group meets on Thur, May 26 at 6:30 p.m. Call the library for more information.

Join our own creative Crystal to craft colourful spring flowers out of paper.
Interested in a career in trades? Mark your calendar for June 7 when the library will host the Powering Trades Job Fair. Bring a copy of your resume and come on down for an on-site interview. This employment program offers the opportunity to see if the Skilled Trades Program might be a fit for you. Would you like to update your resume before the fair? Why not talk to our experienced volunteer resource person on Thursdays between 1 and 3 p.m.?
All Ages:
Join the fun from home on Mondays from 8-9:30 p.m. for our online Nintendo games night. You must have access to “Nintendo Switch Online” to participate. Check our Facebook page for the latest updates.
