Spring is officially here!

Let’s all do the dance of joy while we wait for the flowers to start popping up.

We know that Mother Nature can still turn on us but let’s enjoy the sunshine when we can.

This also means that March Break is upon us and you might need to find some fun activities for the kids to do during the week.

Well, the Stettler Public Library has you covered.

Our Peeps Diorama Contest is back and we can get you started at the Peeps Diorama Workshop on Mon, March 28 at 1 p.m.

We will provide you with the box, peeps and some craft supplies to get your imagination running.

You will have lots of time to complete your diorama before the April 7 deadline.

Then they will be judged by local celebrity judges during the Trade Show.

Next up is a chance to bring out your inner Steven Spielberg, George Lucas or Tim Burton.

Children will make their own stop motion films on Tue, March 29 at 1 p.m.

This is the type of filmmaking that you see in the Wallace and Grommet movies and the Nightmare Before Christmas.

This program is for ages 6 and up. Register early because spaces are limited.

Let’s go fly a kite!

But first we have to build it, and that is exactly what we will be doing on Wed, March 30 at 1 p.m.

We will build and decorate our very own fabulous flying machines and then, depending on how grumpy Mother Nature is, we will take them out for a test flight. Spaces are limited; book your spot today.

Who doesn’t love checkers and Snakes and Ladders! But, they are even better when they are BIGGER!

Join us for Big Games Day on Thur, March 31 at 1 p.m. when we will dig out those two games and many more!

We will enjoy an afternoon of big gaming fun!

If the day is nice we will play outdoors, if not we will find an indoor location. For ages 6 and up.

Fri, April 1 is jam-packed and that’s no joke!

First of all, join us for our March Break Matinee showing of Peter Rabbit at 1 p.m.

Don’t worry, popcorn will be served. We do ask you to register so we know how much popcorn to make.

Then at 6 p.m. we declare a NERF war! Yes, NERF Wars is back and the Library is the perfect place for a NERF war!

Don’t worry, the soldiers will have rations because pizza will be served!

Don’t forget your NERF gun, your bullets and your eye protection! Spaces are limited so call the Library today to book your spot for ages 6 and up.

We did not forget the teens and ‘tweens!

On the agenda for Wed, March 30 at 6 p.m. we are making the fashion accessory that never goes out of style: Friendship Bracelets. Spaces are limited; call the Library to register!

With the kids being out of school all week, I’m sure that the adults will need a bit of a getaway as well.

When not get away with a good book and join in on the discussion at Reader’s Circle on Tue, March 29 at 6:30 p.m.

This month’s book is Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. Ryland Grace wakes up on a spaceship with no memory, only to discover he is the only survivor on a desperate mission to save Earth. Copies of the book are available at the Library; call to register.

Crystal’s Craft Club is back on Thur, March 31 at 6:30 p.m. Add some coloured light to your home or patio when you create your very own luminaries made from jars, coffee filters, watercolour paint and Modge Podge. Spaces are limited; book your spot today.

Sat, April 2 is the last day for you to bring in your gently enjoyed books and movies (no encyclopedias or textbooks, please) for the Friends of the Library’s Giant Book Sale, taking place on Fri, April 8 and Sat, April 9. Clean off those shelves so you can bring home new treasures found at the Giant Book Sale.

The Stettler Trade Show is returning from Fri, April 8 to Sun, April 10 and the Stettler Public Library team is looking forward to seeing everyone at the show.

We hope that you will drop by to say hello to our wonderful team and fill out a quick survey for a chance to win some incredible library swag.

We will have the VR set up for the young (and young at heart) and hope to unveil our new Plan of Service for 2022-2026 there.
