The groundhog prognosticators have handed a mixed-bag on what to expect for the upcoming six weeks.

Weather-wise that can be a good thing or a bad thing, but at the Stettler Public Library a mixed-bag is a good thing because that means that there is something for everyone. Check out what’s happening in the next week or so!

Has it been a few years since you looked at your resume? Does it need revamping to look more appealing to possible employers?

Come and visit our employment resource volunteer on Thursdays from 1 to 3 p.m. to get that resume revamp you need. We ask that you book a time with our volunteer; call the Library to reserve your spot.

The new semester has started so don’t let your student get behind the eight-ball. The Stettler Public Library offers tutoring help on Mondays from 4 to 6 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 7 p.m.

You have the option of in-person tutoring at the Library or via Zoom for upper level math and sciences. Contact the Library to schedule a time with our tutors.

Something Cool After School is extending the wing of love to our wild feathered friends with our activity on Feb. 15, 2022, and Feb 17 at 4 p.m.

We are going to make some tempting bird treats to hang in the trees around your yard to invite your feathered friends to dinner. This program is for children ages 6 and up and registration is required. Book your spot now.

Brain Train pulls into the station on Feb. 12 at 10:30 a.m. or noon with Kids Coding Club.

Using Scratch, a free online coding resource for kids, the participants will be creating their own backgrounds and sprites using drawing tools. Also book your tickets for the next Brain Train on Feb. 19, again at 10:30 a.m. or 12 noon, for our post-Valentine’s catapults.

This is your chance to launch your leftover (ha ha!) Valentine candy hearts across the room. We will build catapults and experiment with weight and measure. Spaces are limited; registration is required.

It’s Paint and Popcorn Night for those teens and ‘tweens who want to get in touch with their inner Picasso or Kahlo on Feb. 16 at 6 p.m.

Painting is a great way to express what you are feeling and we will have popcorn to help intensify those feelings. Ages 10 and up are welcome to join us after they call the Library to register.

Come and join the best gang in town at the Stettler Public Library.

By best gang I mean book club and the Stettler Public Library’s book club is called Reader’s Circle.

Copies of My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry by Fredrik Backman are now available for those who would love to join in on a great book discussion via Zoom.

Elsa is seven years old and different. Her grandmother is 77 years old and crazy. She is also Elsa’s best, and only, friend. At night Elsa takes refuge in her grandmother’s stories where everybody is different and nobody needs to be normal.

When Elsa’s grandmother dies and leaves behind a series of letters apologizing to people she has wronged, Elsa’s greatest adventure begins.

Her grandmother’s letters lead her to an apartment building full of drunks, monsters, attack dogs, and totally ordinary old crones, but also to the truth about fairytales and kingdoms and a grandmother like no other.

This gang will be meeting via Zoom on Febr. 22 at 6:30 p.m. Call the Library to get the link to join us.

The next kit for Crystal’s Crafting Club will be available the morning of Feb. 17 and this kit will keep your tootsies nice and warm while you are reading that Reader’s Circle book.

This kit will provide you with the items that you need to create your own sweater slipper socks.

Kits are limited in number; reserve one today by calling the Library.

If you have an old sweater of your own to convert, we can provide you with a sweater-less kit. Watch the Library’s Facebook page the night of Feb. 17 for video instructions on how to complete your slipper socks.

We can’t forget that we should love and take care of ourselves during February as well so make sure that you put Feb. 24 at 8 p.m. on your calendar.

Get cozy at home and join Alicia Tate via Zoom for a relaxing Yoga Nidra. We will turn our cameras off for full relaxation and if you fall asleep, you will be disconnected at the end of the session so no worries!

Benefits of Yoga Nidra include help managing immune function, blood pressure, cortisol levels and inducing a restful sleep.

Call the Library to get the Zoom link and join us!

For information about any of our programs or to register for events, call the Library at 403-742-2292.

We can also help you navigate vexing technology, print off government documents that you need, find that book for you to read or a movie to watch, or refer you to the service you need in our community.
