I’m sure that you all know the premise behind the tv show “Survivor.” Well, take those ideas and attach them to the Stettler Friends of the Library’s fundraiser: Christmas Wine Survivor. Come to the library armed with a bottle of wine (minimum wine value $15) and buy a ticket for $20. Then join us for the Elimination Party on Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m. (it is not necessary to attend the party to win). The last person standing wins 30 per cent of the wine collected. You will be ready for Christmas, New Year’s and a quiet night at home. Proceeds will purchase children’s play equipment at the library. Tickets are on sale now and rules are posted on the Stettler Public Library’s website (spl.prl.ab.ca).

Halloween is just a few days away and the Stettler Public Library has so much going on that I’m sure that all the ghosts and goblins will be coming to the library to have fun. Check this out.

The Adult Crafting Series continues on Oct. 25 at 6:30 p.m. Come and create a pumpkin that will last forever: a bandana pumpkin. You can bet that this pumpkin will last more than a week.

Our Teen Scene starts the Halloween fun on Oct. 26 from 6 to 9 p.m. for our Teen Scene Halloween Party. Solve our challenges and earn a treat and bragging rights, then watch a scary movie. Costumes are optional. You must pre-register for this event so that you have a ticket to get you into the library after hours.

On Oct. 27 you can have your chance to Escape the library. Join us for our first escape room for all ages. It is a drop-in activity that starts at 10:30. But remember if you can’t solve our challenges, you will be trapped in the library forever.

Join us at 9 p.m. on Oct. 27 for the library’s showing of the cult classic “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” Feel free to dress as your favourite character and be ready to do the Time Warp. Popcorn will be served but it is BYOT—Bring Your Own Toast. Please pre-register by calling the library at 403-742-2292.

We have copies of the book selection for our inaugural book club discussion. Join us on Oct. 30 at 6:30 p.m. as we follow along with the Amnesty International’s Book Selection “The Break” by Katherena Vermette. Meet up with some like-minded new friends! Tea and coffee will be served because you can’t have a great conversation without a cuppa!

We are working hard to make November a great month here at the Stettler Public Library and you can get a peak in next week’s column. Please feel free to call us at 403-742-2292 for more information on any of the services that we offer. Plus check out our website at spl.prl.ab.ca and follow us on Facebook.
