The Stettler Independent is pleased to introduce a new section this month: the Stettler Learning Centre Student of the Month!
Each month, the paper will highlight one of the students working hard to improve themselves through the locally delivered adult education available in Stettler.
The first student to be showcased is Rae-anne Smith! She was born and raised in Halkirk, Alta, but has been living in Stettler for the past ten years.
Smith is currently enrolled in the Building Better Businesses Certificate offered through Red Deer Polytechnic at the Campus Alberta Central/Stettler Learning Centre site. This certificate program targets rural and remote central Alberta women who wish to establish or refresh their business skills. It touches base on key skills needed in joining today’s workforce in the community.
Smith heard about this course through the Stettler Learning Centre. She has been attending the centre daily to do the online portions of the course and utilize the resources, space and technology they offer. According to Smith, the staff at the Learning Centre have been welcoming and knowledgeable throughout this process. When she has questions, they answer her quickly and competently.
Smith added that anyone updating their education should consider taking this certificate at the Stettler Learning Centre!
