We trust that all students and parents are enjoying a well-deserved spring break.

The Grade 4 and 5 students  who didn’t go on the SES ski trips have been doing some “wishful thinking”, and just completed a project with that theme.

They decorated mystery puzzle-like pieces of paper with spring scenes and colorful designs, and this week all of the pieces were reassembled. When it was done, the students had created a graffiti mural that spelled out, “Spring has Sprung,” although for now the words “NOT YET” are also included. Hopefully we will see good weather “springing forth” soon.

Leah Watt’s Grade 1 class decided to use art time to create awesome snow sculptures. They made turtles, crocodiles, castles, hearts, and even the signs SES and 1LW to represent our school and class. Once these sculptures were completed, they sprayed it with some color. It was a magical sight to behold. We thought how art could be this much fun

A new speed record was set, Friday, March 25, in the 3-6-3 stack by Jessica Sweeting of 4.95 seconds. We also looked back and found out who has most improved so far this year. Abby Collard improved by 1.24 seconds in the 3-3-3 Stack, and 13.33 seconds in the Cycle Stack. Kalysta Miller improved by 3.65 seconds in the 3-6-3 Stack.

Stettler Elementary School will begin taking Kindergarten registrations for the 2011-2012 school year, starting on Wednesday, April 6. Parents are invited to drop in to the elementary office any time between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., any day of the week from that day on. Children must be five years old on or before December 31, 2011, to be eligible to enroll. Parents do not need to bring their child with them to register, but they do need to bring their child’s birth certificate. Registration will only take about 10 minutes, and no fees will be collected until the fall.

May you enjoy this time with your child.
