The County of Stettler Town Hall meeting in Byemoor drew a good number of folks interested in what’s happening in the county. Besides updates, residents had the opportunity for input in future decisions and to have any questions answered.

The Spirit of Endiang volunteer supper and entertainment evening on June 23 was much enjoyed by all those who attended. Volunteers, as well as descendants of the Endiang pioneer business people, were honoured during the evening. Following supper, the crowd was treated to a variety of musical entertainment.

Thanks to Dan and Verla Buchwitz for hosting the event once again — their kind generosity is very admirable.

Byemoor Hall was filled with ladies on Sunday, June 23 to honour Shauna Wing with a bridal shower. Shauna, the bride-to-be of Devon Mappin, was showered with many beautiful gifts. Shauna and Devon will be married on July 5 in Red Deer.

Congratulations to Stan and Pat (nee Nixon) Hanson who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a gathering of family and friends at their home in Michichi on July 23. Pat was raised at Byemoor, the daughter of Dave and Betty Nixon.

We wish Stan and Pat many more happy years together.

Byemoor School students enjoyed a year-end trip to Red Deer on Wednesday, June 27. They visited the Collicutt Centre for swimming and also went bowling. Sounds like a fun way to wrap up the year.

June 28 was the last day of school for the students at the Byemoor School. We hope all the students and staff enjoy a great summer break.

Get well wishes are sent to Blake Clausen who has had an extended stay in a Calgary hospital and to Florence Tucker who has spent quite some time in the Red Deer hospital. We hope you both are on the mend and feeling well soon.

Sympathy is extended to the family of Hildegarde Jabs who passed away while on vacation in Holland at age 72. Hildegarde and her husband Sig maintained a beautiful acreage just south of Scapa. Our thoughts are with Hildegarde’s family in their loss. She will be laid to rest at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery, Scapa.

Helen Gutsche was the guest of honour at a family gathering on the weekend on the occasion of her 90th birthday. The celebration was held at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Marlene and Lorne Wallace.

Congratulations on this special milestone Helen and best wishes for many more.

Happy 65th Birthday wishes go out to June Maxwell. Congratulations on reaching this special milestone June and enjoy being on the government payroll.

Keep in mind the 25th annual Big Valley Bust-Out Rodeo is coming up on July 27-28 in Big Valley.

Humour for the day — “I was on the bus the other day and saw a guy sit down on his glasses. I guess his hindsight is not 20/20.”
