Stettler board of trade has new president

JULIE BERTRAND / Independent reporter

Wayne Tebbe is the new president of the Stettler Board of Trade and Community Development since Tuesday, March 8.

Having taken over the position from previous president Gail Peterson, Tebbe was the board’s first vice-president in 2010-2011 and has been a member for the past three years.

“We’ve got a great board. The members have been on it for many years,” says Tebbe.

“Everybody stepped up to the plate again this year and nobody resigned. We’re looking at a great 2011, going into 2012 as well.”

Tebbe is originally from Saskatchewan and has a business degree. He owns WTS Manufacturing, a Stettler-based company that was established in 2007.

“I own a patent so I do have a little bit of experience in that field,” explains Tebbe.

“I have been a member of the community for eight years now and I love where I live.“

Tebbe has many plans for the board and the town of Stettler.

“I want to bring in new business, retain the new business in the community, increase the tourism as well as bring more trade shows to the community,” says Tebbe.

The board is currently hard at work for the upcoming Stettler Trade Show, which will take place on April 15 to 17 at the Stettler Rec Centre. It is already sold out.

After the trade show, the board will be working on the Stettler Steel Wheel Stampede with the stampede committee.

“There are some exciting stuff coming through the town for the next year and a bit,” said Tebbe.
