Some nice graduation memories made

Despite the plus 30 temperatures, people were on the go. Vic and Barb Carey were in Calgary on the weekend. On Saturday, they celebrated Barb's Uncle Walter and Aunt Evelyn Johnson's sixty-fifth anniversary!  They had a really good visit with family and cousins.  Walter was Maxine Ganshirt's brother.  Congratulations, what a great achievement!

Frank and Eleanor Dahlgren drove to Wainwright on Saturday to help his sister-in-law Daine Dahlgren and family with their cattle.  They visited with family.

The Ponoka Stampede was the setting for presentations when Greg Cassidy, (the late) Charlie Chick; and Dee Butterfield were honored.  There will be a presentation and ceremony later this fall in Calgary.  Many Gadsby area residents were at the rodeo this past weekend.

Velvet Nickerson headed to Kimberly B.C. where she took in the Grade 12 graduation for nephews Tristan Pagura and Lye Nickerson.  Velvet stayed at her mom and dad's and tried to stay cool, Temperatures reached plus 40. On Sunday, they celebrated Velvet's dad's 78th birthday with cake and family gathered. Velvet returned home Monday.

Percy and Paulette had a busy couple of days starting Thursday when they joined daughter Christy and Curtis Wideman and family, Lavern and Nadine Wideman at Three Hills to help grandson Matthew Wideman celebrate his Grade 12 graduation.  The day began with family pictures at one; banquet at 4:30, speeches and meet the grads.  The Grade 11 class served the supper, the theme was Phantom of the Opera.  Much fun.  Their motto came from Isaiah 40:31

Next day started with a birthday brunch for granddaughter Josie who turned 13; then it was over to the Athletic Building for the commencement exercises.  Matthew, along with another graduate gave the "thanks to the parents”. Matthew received an academic award, " Academic Yokefellow Award";  very proud parents, grandparents.

Percy and Paulette headed home for supper and birthday cake with granddaughter Hannah, who turned 10 on Thursday.

Bill and Joyce Hansel attended great granddaughter Shaya’s last ballgame on Thursday, then took her and grandma Sandy, mom Dense for supper at McDonald’s.

Friday grandson Devin Trennery and Heather and Sandra Trennery came for supper.

Saturday was celebration for Twyllia. Long who turned 85. They enjoyed a Hawaiian pig roast and lots of visiting. Happy birthday, Twyllia!

Sunday Bill and Joyce were over to Musgroves for their 18th anniversary!

John, Jewel Bailey and Hannah spent the weekend enjoying Jurassic Forest near Edmonton.  They stayed at Gibbons, took in the park Sunday morning when cooler, before returning home.  They report a great place to take the family.

Word has come of the passing of Betty (Elliot) Hankins of Dawson Creek, B.C.  Betty was born and raised near Red Willow, married Bob Hankins and moved to the Botha area before heading to B.C. in 1958.  Many return visits kept them in touch with friends and family; sympathies to the Quance, Elliot, Hankins and Berg families.  Betty was 83. She will be laid to rest beside Bob in the Botha cemetery.
