Slo-pitch tournament only a weekend away

BYEMOOR/ENDIANG NEWS -- A potluck retirement barbecue is planned for Saturday, Aug. 20 at 4 p.m. at Scapa Hall.

BYEMOOR/ENDIANG NEWS — A potluck retirement barbecue is planned for Saturday, Aug. 20 at 4 p.m. at the Scapa Hall for some folks who have moved from the Scapa community.

Those being honoured are June Mattheis, Ken and Peggy Sauter and Rob and Carol Wiens.

Everyone is welcome to attend, just bring along one of your favorite potluck dishes. Meat will be supplied.

Anyone wishing to contribute to the community gifts may contact Thelma Bossert at 403-854-2395.

We send congratulations to Kathy Mappin and Mike Hofer on their recent marriage. We wish you many happy years together, Kathy and Mike.

We bid farewell to Bernice Clausen, who has moved from her farm north of Byemoor to her new home in Stettler. We wish you all the best in your new location, Bernice.

Russ and Linda Kobi, along with Holly Stanger and Erin Prehn, spent a few days in Los Angeles last week visiting with Kent and Tamlin Kobi, from Australia. Kent was in Los Angeles on business.

The Kobi family also enjoyed taking in a Dodgers baseball game and a Broadway production at the Hollywood Bowl while in Los Angeles.

We send birthday greetings to Art Gutsche, who celebrated his 86th birthday on Aug. 1. We wish you many more happy birthdays, Art.

Russ and Linda Kobi have six of their grandchildren staying with them while the children’s parents Robert and Holly Stanger and Brian and Erin Prehn are on vacation in Toronto. Six youngsters should keep grandma and grandpa busy.

Congratulations to Rylee Jones on being the top money raiser in the Junior category at the Rumsey Ride for STARS on the weekend. Rylee raised $2,201 and this is the second year in a row she has achieved this honour.

Some local folks participated in the Mud Hero Run at Red Deer on Saturday. There wasn’t a square inch of their bodies not covered in mud by the end.

Be sure to head to Byemoor for the Byemoor Slo-pitch Tournament coming up on Aug. 19-21. There will be lots of other activities throughout the weekend to keep you entertained.
