On Friday, Nov. 7, the SES Show Choir performed a song called “One Nation” at the K-12 Remembrance Day Ceremony.

The song reminded us that even though we are all individuals and have many differences, we share a common gratitude for the soldiers who went off to war to protect our country. There are currently 61 students in Show Choir and they practice every Monday at lunch time.

Thank you to all the parents who supplied black and white clothes for our performance. We added the school vests and the students looked and sounded great.

The next choir performancewill be at the Festival of Lights Senior’s Tea on Wednesday, Nov. 26. Shandelle Froese was our honorary wreath layer and represented our school very well.

We had our monthly parent council meeting on Nov. 3 and parents got to see some exciting new upgrades to our library. We would like to thank the parents that gave up their time to paint the new space in the library, the students and staff are enjoying the makeover.

The students in Grade 4 NP and 4 BL are playing cribbage with the seniors of Heart Haven and Paragon Place every second Tuesday morning. We had a great first day and the students are learning the game quickly from these pros.

The full time kindergarten classes went on a field trip to the Stettler Public Library to take part in the activities put on by the COW bus and the library. 60 children enjoyed the bus, a Lego station, parachute fun, story time and craft time. Thank you to the Stettler Public Library staff for helping make this such a wonderful field trip.

Operation Christmas preparation has started at SES. We are now accepting items in our classrooms and at the office to fill boxes with. Please bring in what you can. Items that can be brought in are things like, play-dough, crayons, school supplies, small toys, magnets, candy, hygiene items, games, and crafts.

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Stettler Elementary School the last week of November and everyone is welcome to attend. This has always been a highlight of our school year and is a fantastic way to promote the love of reading with your children.

At the fair, you can choose from hundreds of books as well as a variety of novelty items with every item purchased benefiting the Elementary School library. Please watch for more details to come home with your child.
