Seniors’ Week celebration set for June 8 at Endmoor Drop-In

Locally, Seniors’ Week will be celebrated on Thursday, June 8 at 2 p.m. at the Endmoor Drop-In Centre.

BYEMOOR/ENDIANG NEWS -- Locally, Seniors’ Week will be celebrated on Thursday, June 8 at 2 p.m. at the Endmoor Drop-In Centre. A fruit tray will be provided by the County of Stettler. Be sure to mark your calendar for this special event honouring our seniors and enjoy an afternoon of visiting, refreshments and snacks.

Byemoor Kindergarten class hosted a Grandma’s Tea at the Byemoor School on Tuesday, May 16. The youngsters enjoyed the special visit with their grandmothers.

Congratulations to Mike and Ashley (nee Hayden) Oman on the birth of their second son, James Richard Oman on May 16. James was born in Calgary and weighed seven pounds and 13 ounces. He is welcomed by big brother Elias.

Congratulations also to the local grandparents Jill Hayden, Jack and Yvette Hayden and great-grandma Ethel Hayden.

Hats go off to the students of the Byemoor School who were out and about the hamlet of Byemoor on Thursday, May 18 picking up garbage and doing their part to make it clean and tidy.

We extend sympathy to Luke and Tania LaRose on the passing of Luke’s father Art LaRose of Stettler on May 16 at the age of 64 years. Our thoughts are with the LaRose family in their sad loss.

Following the closure of the Byemoor Store the Byemoor Hotel has begun offering some essential grocery items at the hotel. Available are milk, bread, eggs, butter, cream, chocolate bars and ice for the convenience of local shoppers.

On May 16, 2017, a balloon one of 80 launched at the Great Endiang Balloon Race on July 24, 2016 was found near Hemaruka, Alberta. The balloon, numbered 16, was released by Carol Stulberg at Ken and Eleanor Schultz’s annual camp-out.

Remember the Scapa Strawberry Tea is coming up on Monday, June 5 at 2 p.m. at the Scapa Hall, with everyone welcome.

Congratulations to the graduates of J.C.Charyk School in Hanna. The graduation exercises were held on the weekend. Although none of the graduates were from Endiang or Byemoor this year, there were a number with connections to the Endmoor community.

They included Reeve Buchwitz, grandson of Dan and Verla Buchwitz; Makenna Boehlke, granddaughter of Marilyn Boehlke; Mareena Hein, granddaughter of Gordie and Roxy Gallagher and Quinn Peters, granddaughter of Gary and Dolores Pearson.

Congratulations to Wendy (nee Wasdal) Bignell and Amer Jamal who will soon be opening their own business in Stettler. They purchased the former Wares Jewelers building on Main Street and plan to open Stettler IDA Pharmacy there in July 2017. Good luck with your new venture Wendy and Amer.

Sandi Hodgson of Melfort, Saskatchewan was a recent visitor with Kirk and Twila Buchwitz and boys. Sandi also took in the Grandma’s Tea at the Kindergarten.

Ken and Eleanor Schultz hosted their annual Victoria Day long-weekend camping get-together at their farm. Several guests came with their RVs to enjoy the Schultz’s hospitality and great weather for the first camp-out of the season.

Get well wishes go out to Florence Tucker who was a patient in the Hanna hospital. Hope you are feeling better now, Florence.

Rob, Rhonda and Hunter Maginn spent the long-weekend in Saskatchewan, at their cabin at Fishing Lake.

The wild Saskatoon bushes are blooming profusely around the countryside. Barring any frost, they should produce a bounty of berries.
