Seniors’ Christmas dinner set for Dec. 8

BYEMOOR/ENDIANG NEWS — Endmoor Drop-In Society is once again sponsoring their seniors’ Christmas dinner on Thursday, Dec. 8 at noon at the Byemoor Hall. All former and present Endiang and Byemoor area seniors are welcome to attend.

Entertainment will include Billy Melville, “Country music’s best-kept secret” featuring chuckwagon history and musical selections; as well as a visit by the Byemoor School students.

Seniors interested in attending this complementary turkey dinner are asked to call Deanna at 403-579-2331 or Mary at 403-743-0143 to confirm numbers with the caterer.

Keep in mind Santa Claus Day is coming up on Saturday, Dec. 3 at the Byemoor Hall. The baking and craft tables operate from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. The 4-H members are selling Christmas trees, beginning at noon. Santa arrives from the North Pole at 2 p.m. A concession booth will be available.

Crib winners at the Endmoor Drop-In Centre on Thursday, Nov. 24 were: First — Eleanor Schultz and Second — Lawrence Wilkie.

Congratulations to Jeanna Walker and Adam Fremont of Leduc on the arrival of their second daughter Louisa Karen Dawn Fremont, born on Tuesday, Nov. 15. Louisa weighed seven pounds 11 ounces and is a little sister for Willa.

Congratulations are also in order for the local grandparents, Clint and Tammy Walker, and great-grandma Evelyn Walker.

We extend sympathy to the family of Lydia Morlock who passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 23 at the age of 95 years. Lydia and her late husband Henry Morlock farmed north of Byemoor for many years and raised their four children there. Lydia’s funeral was held in Stettler on Tuesday, Nov. 29. Our thoughts are with her family in their time of loss.

Sympathy is also extended to the family of Joy (nee Gridley) Kobi on her passing on Tuesday, Nov. 22. Joy was 71. A funeral service will be held for Joy on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. at the Stettler Funeral Home. Our thoughts are with her husband Dale Kobi and family in their sad loss.

The Byemoor School students enjoyed a trip to Rosebud on Friday, Nov. 25 for a performance of “Miracle on 34th Street” at the Rosebud Theatre. They travelled by bus driven by Brandi Mappin.

Doug and Deanna Johnson celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a gathering hosted by their family at the Lilac Room, Karyn Tateson’s tea house, south of Endiang. The family enjoyed a lovely supper to mark this special occasion.

Mark your calendars for St. Peter’s Lutheran Church’s annual Christmas Candlelight service on Friday, Dec. 23 at 7 p.m. in the historic church near Scapa.

Get well wishes are sent to Brian Tucker, a patient in an Edmonton hospital. We hope you are on the mend soon, Brian.
