Second Post Harvest Celebration heading to Big Valley

Plans for the Big Valley Children’s Christmas Party scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 10 are well underway. Everyone is welcome to attend this popular annual event, though gifts are arranged only for children 10 and under. To pre-register call or text Brenda at 403-740-6552 or Catrina at 403-741-7320.

The Big Valley Agricultural Society’s second annual Post Harvest Celebration is on Saturday at the Big Valley Community Hall. Cocktails begin at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7. There will be both a live and a silent auction and the entertainment for the evening will feature the Atomic Improv. For more information or tickets to the event, contact Ag. Fourteen players came out for crib at the Big Valley Inn on Oct. 22. Stan Nattestad took first; Doug Harrold took second and Lawrence Wilkie took third. Gloria Emblau went home with the booby and Dorothy Annable won the regular draw. Next week they are going to try six games instead of eight. If you find eight is just too many, you might want to come out and try six games. The Big Valley Inn Crib players hope to see you all next Sunday at 1 p.m.

At the Big Valley Drop In Centre’s crib tournament, first went to Earl Ortman, second to Ron Milton, third to Lynne Gjaltema and the booby went to Adrice Clamp. Drop In crib takes place every Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Don’t forget, the next community pancake supper will be on Nov. 20 beginning at 5:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

It’s hard to believe, but the Big Valley Christmas Craft Show & Sale is less than a month away. Mark your calendars for Nov. 18 and come by the Big Valley Community Hall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to check out this popular annual event. Featuring handmade jewelry, homemade woodcrafts, handicrafts, sewing, Royal Purple fruitcakes, Big Valley Artists, Friends of the Library pie sale, handmade ceramics, hockey calendars, 4-H bake table and so much more, this event will be the place to be. Arrangements have begun for the Big Valley Legion’s annual Remembrance Day service. Legion members will be contacting wreath layers and donors shortly before finalizing the program. The annual Remembrance Day service at the Big Valley School has been scheduled for Friday, Nov. 10 at 10:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
