The Show Choir, which is an extracurricular singing group for students in Grades 4 and 5, is hard at work on their songs, with practices after school and during recess breaks. Their director is Mrs. Amanda Hugh, who is presently teaching the Grades 3 – 5 music program at the elementary school.

The kindergarten classes held their annual scarecrow festival on Wednesday, Sept. 30.

The classes worked collaboratively on building scarecrows, and then it was off to the playground to hunt for crows that were hidden around the playground. The kindergarten children had the opportunity to play several smartboard scarecrow math games that were designed by Mrs. Thorne and Mrs. Boyd.

Mrs. Monica Sylvester’s students in Grade 1 class are enjoying their newest classmate: Scooby, a four-month-old hamster, has been in their class for two weeks now. The children are busy making sure that Scooby is well taken care of and that he has many different healthy treats. Scooby is only handled by Mrs. Sylvester, but the students have enjoyed making a running area for Scooby by sitting in a circle side by side. Scooby runs around smelling many of the students and has even tried sneaking up a few pant legs. Scooby has also been the main character in many of the students’ writing. Mrs. Sylvester’s class tries very hard to make the class a calm and quiet atmosphere for Scooby.

Mrs. Annette Hunter’s Grade 2 class has brightened up the lives of some seniors by painting beautiful fall pictures of sunflowers, which will be on display at a local lodge.
