RUMSEY RECORD — Tonight will be the Elks second Turkey Bingo held in Big Valley at the Hall so you don’t want to miss it. We went to the Rumsey Bingo last week and there was a good crowd that enjoyed the fun of bingo while Chris Rowland filled the chair as caller for the first time. I felt a little sorry for him since he had no experience with the different games that were played. The crowd was cheerfully instructing him as we went along so everyone had a laugh or two at his expense. I don’t think he really minded. Tonight he should be well seasoned for any heckling the crowd hands him.
The Rumsey Christmas party is planned for this Friday, Dec. 16 starting at 7 p.m. Santa will be there to have fun with the kids and hear all their wishes so you don’t want to miss out.
Super league will be running their league finals this coming weekend as well. Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 17 and 18. There will be games running all day both days with the concession open and, I’m sure a pot of homemade soup and some delicious meals available to warm you up in this vicious bite of winter that seems to want to hold on for a bit too long in my books. I hope this means that the weather will be mild through the Christmas season.
The Rumsey Community Calendar has arrived at the library and they turned out very nice. They are made with a nice heavy paper so stand up to all the notes and reminders. The pictures are very nice to look at as well and there are all the community events listed too so you shouldn’t have to miss a local event again. They are only $15 and make for a great gift to anyone who has everything already. Might I suggest that a library card is an excellent Christmas gift for anyone since there are so many things available through your local library beyond books; take a look at our local library website – www.rumseylibrary.ca – and see where it leads you and maybe I’ll see you stop by.
Here’s a giggle to get you going this week.
A husband and wife were out Christmas shopping just before Christmas. The wife suddenly noticed that her husband was missing, so she called him on his mobile. The wife said, “Where are you, you know we have lots to do.” He said, “Do you remember the jewelers we went into about 10 years ago, and you fell in love with that expensive diamond necklace that I couldn’t afford at the time and I said that one day I would get it for you?” Little tears started to flow down her cheek and she got all choked up saying, “Yes, I do remember that shop.” “Well, I am in the gun shop next door to that.”
