Register for Endiang centennial

We hope all the dads enjoyed Father’s Day on Sunday, with the various activities and family functions planned. Father’s Day has been celebrated for 100 years now with the first being observed on June 19, 1910 due to the efforts of Mrs. Sonora Dodd of Spokane, Washington, who felt fatherhood should be recognized in a similar form as Mother’s Day.

The junior high school students from Byemoor competed in the track meet in Stettler on Monday, which had been postponed from the previous week due to the rain. Rosemary Stulberg was the bus driver transporting them to Stettler.

There was an excellent turn-out for the Dance Revue and Talent Show at the Byemoor hall on Monday evening put on by local dance instructor Krissy Jack. There was a variety of entertainment with dance, piano, singing and Tae Kwon Do demonstrations. We have a lot of very talented young people in our community. Congratulations to all on a great show.

The Endiang Centennial Committee met at the Endiang Hall on Monday evening to finalize plans for the centennial celebration to be held on July 23-25. There are lots of activities planned and everyone is welcome to attend. There will be a catered supper on Saturday evening and a catered breakfast on Sunday morning. To help establish a number to tell the caterer, please contact Terry Gallant if you plan to attend. Phone 403-579-2515 or email jesjam@telusplanet.net. A full description of the events can be found at the community’s website at www.endiang.ca. The next centennial meeting will be held on June 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the Endiang Hall with all people willing to help out that weekend urged to attend.
