Sympathy to friends and family of Barry and Linda Gogal. Barry is a native of our community having been born and raised here as son of Laudy and Aida Gogal. Linda passed away this week after losing her struggle with cancer. Memorial services were held in Sherwood Park, Friday, June 17. Barry is a cousin of Leon, Sharon Lucille and Gerry Gogal.
Thursday evening, in the Rumsey community hall, a shower was held for Marci Anderson and her husband-elect, Jerritt Nemetz. of Stettler. The entertainment was very enjoyable when the emcee, Linda Helmer, included the bridal couple in the games. The Two Valley View area of the district hosted the shower which was very well attended considering the weather. Marci and Jerritt plan a July wedding.
Thursday evening, representatives from the Morrin United Church attended a brain storming meeting in Delia United Church to try and solve the situation of the Morrin United Church, which will be short one minister come September. Sunday, 19th, church services were held in the Morrin United Church with Rev. Harold and Amy Hunter in attendance. This was their last Sunday with us. During the service, they rendered several songs for our enjoyment. We will miss them terribly but as of the meeting in Delia on Thursday evening, we now have a replacement for the third Sunday of each month. Jerry Beskowine and his wife Judy of Drumheller will be taking this service each month. Rev. Mervyn and Marilyn Penfound of Stettler will be returning for the first Sunday of each month, come September.
Following the service, a delicious pot-luck luncheon was enjoyed by everyone.
We from the Morrin United Church wish everyone a happy and healthy summer, if and when the sunshine ever comes our way. The Morrin Bethany Lutheran Church holds services each Sunday of the month at 10:30 a.m. and all are welcome to join them.
I had a call from one of the grad moms this week and she filled me in with the names of the grads that will be taking part in the Morrin grad ceremonies on June 25th. Supper will be in the Rumsey community hall at 5 p.m. with the grand march ceremonies in the Morrin School gym at 8 p.m. Everyone is invited to come to the grand march in the school gym.
Those students graduating this year from the Morrin School are T.J. Herd, Tavis Cawiezel, Laurissa Bice, Damara Montgomery, Michael Hallburg, Brad Lawrence, Danny Brereton and Dan Doyle. Congratulations to all the grads and may you have a good summer.
The Rumsey-Rowley 4-H beef club will be holding their annual banquet and awards night on June 28th in the Rumsey community hall. All buyers and trophy donors are encouraged to attend this evening and see how these 4-H members learn by doing, which is part of the 4-H motto.
