Prepare for fair and supper

Sept. 10 is fast approaching, don’t forget to have your items in for the annual Westwoods open bench fair. Your imagination is your limit. Registration is between 4:30 and 5:30; judging starts at 5:30. There is free corn on the cob, burgers and more for everyone starting at 6 p.m. Come have a fun time. If you have something you can enter, bring that too, if not, just come and enjoy.

Ray and Rene Blackmore celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on Tuesday, Sept. 1 in Red Deer when Ray took his bride to The Keg for an enjoyable evening. Congratulations, Ray and Rene.

Then, Rene was back to Red Deer on Friday, Sept. 4 to help her mom Dorothy celebrate her birthday with supper out. Happy birthday Dorothy.

The Gadsby District Hobby Club’s monthly supper will be held Saturday, Sept. 19 at the bank building. Doors open at 5 p.m. On the menu this month is roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, veggies and salad bar and their famous dessert smorg. Come enjoy a great meal and a fun evening. Cash bingo starts at 7:30 for those who feel lucky. The loonie pot is growing, come try your luck.

Westwoods held their monthly meeting on Wednesday night at the agrilot. Look forward to a fun, family Halloween night coming in October.

Lynne Potter reports a number of Gadsby youngsters at Sharebear Playschool this fall. Good news for the future, for the community and the Botha/Gadsby school enrolment. The students had a one week extended holiday while renovations are completed at the Botha school. An exciting start for the students and teachers.

Alisa Glasier will be hosting a scrapbook fun day at the Gadsby Bank Building on Saturday, Oct. 3, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Free lunch is included. So mark your calendar and please let her know by Oct. 1.
