Poker rally in Westwoods on Feb. 9 - Gadsby/Westwoods

The community is coming to life with several events in the wind.

The Gadsby ball association held their annual general meeting on Wednesday night with plans for their final dine and dance fundraiser to be held March 19 at Westwoods Agrilot. Steak and shrimp will top

the menu. For more details, phone Leasyl at 403-574-2171. By the end of 2011, they will be pleased to announce the completion of the project. Way to go!

And minor league sign up will be announced soon.

Velvet Nickerson drove to Calgary recently to pick up son Tom and Angela Bigney, who were coming home from a delayed and much enjoyed honeymoon. Ten days of swimming with the dolphins, pictures with the squirrel monkeys, zip line and Mayan ruins at Tulum to mention a few.

Ladies night out tentatively set for Gadsby. Tickets will be available soon and the date firmed up.

Friends of Bob Ditrich are hosting a fundraiser snowmobile poker rally to be held at Westwoods on Feb. 9 followed by a supper and dance. For more details, contact Dave Woods at Woody’s in Stettler.

Great grandmother Ethel Baird attended the baby shower in Botha for Rowan Lee Shepherd, born to Adrianne and Jordan on Jan. 24, weighing in at eight pounds, nine ounces. Proud grandmother is Leigh Shepherd.

And the twins have arrived! Congratulations to Charlie Cassidy and Reid Smith on the birth of their sons, Talon Charles and Stryder Reid on Jan. 18th. Local great grandparents are Aleta and Charlie Cassidy and Phyllis Robinson. Proud grandparents are Betty Anne and John Cassidy.

Cody Cassidy has been doing well on the circuit with a win of $6,000 at Denver for steer wrestling. Great news!

It’s good to hear Rick Shepherd is home recuperating from knee surgery in Red Deer.
