There will be a benefit potluck supper in Gadsby on Saturday, May 1 to help Shaun Derr after the house fire that virtually destroyed everything he owned. There will be a chance at winning some raffles and an enjoyable evening. So mark your calendar and watch the paper for more details next week.

The monthly supper of the Gadsby District Hobby Club was well attended on Saturday night with 63 persons on hand. Tables had been set up outside, when the wind was nil. Unfortunately before 5 p.m. our “old faithful” was back to gale forces so no one was able to enjoy the outdoors. Inside provided much laughter and visiting.

Following the supper, 24 stayed for bingo and still the loonie pot remains. Now over $130 and growing!

Gadsby dump sight is now on summer time with Wednesday afternoons 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday afternoons 1 to 5 p.m.

The first meeting of the Gadsby 100th anniversary went well and the enthusiasm has continued to grow since then. August 27, 28 and 29 has been set. Camping will be available, registration will be Friday night and Saturday at the bank building. Plans for a parade are underway, there will be ball games, face painting and games for the kids, ice cream and snacks, food, food, food. Historical booths set up at the church building, the hall and the bank building. Anyone wishing to set up a booth of memorabilia would be most welcome. Please contact myself at 403-574-2442 for this or any other ideas, volunteer help, or if you are coming for the weekend.

Saturday night there will be a supper, speeches and presentations. More details to follow. Sunday will start with a pancake breakfast and wind down at the Gadsby Cemetery with their 80th annual Decoration Day Services, closing remarks, coffee and cake. Hopefully, a weekend to remember!

Word has come that Inez Skaley has remarried. Congratulations to Inez and Doug Baldwin. They had just returned from a three-month holiday in the United States.

It was good to see Robert Blackmore this weekend, at the supper. Robert and his wife have moved to Cochrane recently.

Betty Hadwin left Friday for her annual cross stitch retreat at Camp Caroline where over 60 ladies enjoyed the weekend. Betty returned home Sunday, tired but happy.
