Don’t we all get itchy fingers at this time of year, yearning to work in the soil, feel the sun on our backs and enjoy the satisfaction of watching things grow?
If the view out your window is still snow on a white background, gardening books and videos are the next best thing. To be ready when spring finally arrives, come in and check out our collection on landscaping, garden projects, and growing things. And speaking of all things green, we have aloe vera plants for sale at $5 each with proceeds going toward library programs.
When we are talking about all things green, we should also talk about all things blue. And with blue I mean water like rivers and lakes. If you are tired of needing an auger to go fishing, why not look at fly fishing? We are pleased to present Fly Tying with Dave Denholm on Sat, Mar. 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Learn the art of making your own flies from Dave, a local expert. Remember to bring your lunch. Spots are limited so register quickly.
If you are looking for something more relaxing than fly fishing, why not check out river cruising? Joanne MacDonald from Jomac Travel is back on Wed, Mar. 8 at 6:30 p.m. for Travel Talk. Joanne will be telling you about the wonders of River Crusing and what you can expect with this kind of travel. Everyone welcome.

Read & Rhyme is for preschoolers 0-5 years and their parents every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday morning at 10:30.
We have fun singing songs, sharing rhymes and reading stories and there’s always room for more little ones to join us. We encourage you to keep track of your family reading with the free app 1000 Books Before Kindergarten. We’ll even give your child a small prize when you reach your milestones along the way.
Dr. Seuss’s wildly imaginative children’s stories “came like a karate chop into the weary world of Dick and Jane” a reviewer once said. On Thu, Mar. 2 at 4 p.m. Something Cool After School will be celebrating all things Seuss for children 6 and up. Then on Tue, Mar. 7 it’s the Pringle Ringle Challenge where the challenge might just be not eating the Pringles while you make the largest possible circle out of these salty snacks. On Thur, Mar. 9, we’ll light up a Minecraft torch.
One-on-one tutoring can make a difference to your child’s grades and self-confidence. We offer free half-hour time slots in person for students K-Gr. 12 on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays so call us for details and an appointment.
Teens & ’Tweens:
If good things come in small packages, why not shrink something for yourself: a keychain, a pin, or earrings! We’ll be miniaturizing stuff on Wed, Mar. 8 at 4:30 p.m. Ages 10 and up.

Film Circuit at the Library Mon, Mar. 6 at 6:30 p.m. presents Till, the story of Mamie Till-Mobley, whose pursuit of justice for her 14-year-old son Emmett Till became a galvanizing moment that helped lead to the creation of the civil rights movement. Join us for the movie and popcorn at the library.
Minds in Motion is a program designed for those experiencing Alzheimer’s or other cognitive decline and a care partner to provide mental stimulation in an enjoyable social setting. Join us Thursdays, 2-3 p.m.
This month’s Reader’s Circle Book Club novel is The Soviet Sisters by Anika Scott, an electrifying tale of secrets, surveillance, and sisterhood set against the burgeoning Cold War. The Friends of the Library Society’s Giant Book Sale is back during the Trade Show on Friday and Saturday, April 14 & 15. That means that we are now accepting donations like gently used books and dvds. Do your spring cleaning and support your local library. We will be accepting donations until Thursday, April 6. No encyclopedias please.
