Happy Easter weekend to everyone. What nice weather to get together with family and friends to celebrate the coming of Christ.
Monday, April 18, the ladies from the district went to Trochu to St. Mary’s Health Care Center to host the birthday party of the month. Ray Duft and Bob Smithe were on hand to play music and do some singing. Pat Holowath was the hostess for this month and served everyone miniature cupcakes and ice cream. The cupcakes were decorated with the pastel colors of spring. There were two birthdays from the lodge, Ely Goddard and Lizzie Nelsonl. Lizzie was not able to attend as she was in Three Hills hospital following a fall that broke her hip recently. Best wishes, Lizzie. There were three birthdays from second floor. Holger Nielsen, Bernice Martin and Irene Frolek. Each birthday person received a small useful gift, courtesy of the Rumsey Ag. Society.
The next birthday party will be Monday, May 16, when Pat Hatt will be the hostess.
Have you got your date all lined up for the Mother’s Day breakfast in Rumsey on Sunday, May 8? The volunteer firemen are cooking up some goodies again this year for everyone to enjoy. Breakfast is served from 9 to 11 am.
The Sunday prior to Mother’s Day, May 1 is the day of the “Meet Baby Jayne” tea in the Rowley hall in the afternoon. We saw her yesterday and she’s a doll for sure.
Saturday, May 7, the Rumsey-Rowley 4-H Beef Club are holding a battery and bottle drive in the districts. Contact any member of the clubs if you have batteries or bottles to be picked up. They will also be collecting Ivemec bottles and boxes. Rumours are that there will soon be a disposal container for Ivemec jugs and bottles at the landfill site. That will be good.
May 1 is the day of the next church service in the Morrin United Church at 10:30 a.m.
Monday, June 6 is the date of the 2011 4-H club show and sale in Delia arena. The Rumsey-Rowley club is the host club this year, so be sure and mark your calendar.
The Rumsey Library garage sale has been rescheduled to Saturday, May 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The sale will also be open Friday evening from 5 to 9 p.m.
I have a question for all farmers. How many folks plan to start seeding in April this year?
A notice from the Morrin School –Have you seen the Morrin School garden yet?
Phase 1 is now complete. It already has become a center for learning and socializing. Phase 2 is underway. We’ll be constructing on arbor, installing edging, planting trees, putting four benches on our existing cement circles and completing the “meeting places” area.
If you are able to volunteer your equipment, time, or contribute money, or make a donation in memory of someone, please contact Mrs. Russell at the school.
