With heavy rainfall this spring

The district received a substantial amount of moisture last week, with amounts ranging from two and a half to four inches of rain.

Combined with prior rains, the countryside has never looked greener. In areas with the heaviest rainfall, the soil has become saturated, with water lying on the fields and the creeks are running.

Congratulations to Brittiany Keith and Jesse Hebert, who were married on Saturday in the historic St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, with their reception and wedding dance held at the Byemoor Hall.

Brittiany is the daughter of Pat and Sandra Keith and granddaughter of Mike Keith and Bill Baird. Jesse is the son of June Maxwell and Rick Hebert.

We wish this fine young couple all the best as they start their married life together. The newlyweds will reside in Byemoor.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads. Hope you enjoyed your special day Sunday.

We send birthday congratulations to a former Endiang resident, Eleanor (Gallagher) Aaserud, now of the Hanna Lodge, who celebrates her 93rd birthday June 19. Best wishes for many more, Eleanor.

The next day, June 20, son Gordie Gallagher celebrates his 65th birthday. Happy birthday Gordie. Hope you enjoy being on the government payroll.

Sympathy is extended to Gus and June Mattheis on the recent passing of Gus’ eldest sister, Anna Miller, in Ottawa. Our thoughts are with all the Mattheis family in their loss.

Remember the bridal shower for Dara Green, bride-to-be of Cody Hallett, on June 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the Byemoor Hall. The women are asked to please bring lunch.

Shirley (nee Keibel) Hieb of Calgary was a weekend visitor with her aunt, Carol Stulberg, and family.

There will be a burial service for Pastor Brian Patterson at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church on June 28 at 1 p.m.

Pastor Patterson was instrumental in restoring St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and having it declared a historical site. He also began holding periodic services at the church at Christmas and other times through the year, since regular services had been discontinued in 1978.

In recent years, the church has been the scene of several weddings. Pastor Patterson was living in Edmonton at the time of his passing.

Organizers of the three-team slo-pitch tournament held in conjunction with the Byemoor Fair plan to give out packages with local info and goodies to each team.
