Fingers crossed, has spring arrived? The farmers are starting to get out in their fields to work them up and get ready for seeding. It’s been a long and stormy winter. It’s nice to see those huge snow banks along the road sides disappear. Now we just see the mounds of dirt on the sides of ditch banks indicating that our winter rodents took up residents under the tall piles of snow.

The county has put no bans on the roads this spring and as a result that will allow all grain trucks to get up the roads to get the seed to the cleaning plants and grain moved.

Erskine school held what is now their annual Spell – A - Thon this week. The students had fun competing in spelling and raising money for activities.

Today is the CARA badminton tournament in Stettler for Grades 7, 8, and 9. Grade 6 will have their own tournament tomorrow.

ECS will be hosting their Mother’s Day Tea on May 6.

Alberta Opera will be presenting Aladdin in Erskine on May 12 using students to help with the performance. This should be a fun experience for everyone.

Grades 6-9 have decided to go to West Ed Water Park for their year-end trip.

The 4th annual Hank Boer fun run will be held May 15 raising money for the Stollery Children’s hospital.

We know the school year is winding up when the PAT exams come around. May is the month for the LA exams for grades 6 and 9.

May 20 is the date for the Erskine 4-H Beef club’s competition.
