Old-Time Dance gets a new kick this week in Botha with the popular Quetz Valley Band - Botha Booster

With all this snow happening this Saturday, hopefully everyone is able to dig their way out. Don’t think we have had this much snow in one dump for a long time, and it’s still snowing. So it’s a welcoming site for a lot of farmers and people enjoying the snow.

To carry on, this week there will be a parent council meeting on coming Wednesday, Jan. 12 at 7 p.m. in the Botha School Library. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Our sympathy and prayers go out to the family of Betty Hart, who passed away on Dec. 30 at the age of 90. Betty Hart was a former resident of Botha area.

Let’s us not forget about the Old-Time Dance at the Botha Hall on Friday, Jan. 14 starting at 8 p.m. The Quetz Valley Band will be entertaining the crowd that evening, so please bring something for lunch to share and come out and enjoy the entertainment with your family and friends.

The next early bird Bingo will be held on Jan. 18, starting at 7:15 p.m. So come on out, and get your Bingo cards and try out your winning hand. It’s a great evening and everyone is welcome to come out.

Ice arena passes for families, which cover some special functions are now available. So come on out and see Hazel Davidson for your pass. The hours of operation are seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. A person can reach Hazel at 403-742-8784 and if no answer please leave a message and Hazel will gladly return your phone call. Or you could try Hazel on her cell at 403-741-5275.

There are also two men’s hockey events per week. These are Monday and Thursday evenings. For more information on men’s hockey nights, please contact Murray Davidson at 403-741-5276.

For after school activities, please contact D.J. Kistner after school or evenings at 403-740-4950 or 403-742-8184 and leave a message if there is no answer and he will gladly return your call.

Church services are held every Sunday morning at 11 a.m. with Reverend Susan Bowyer officiating. Everyone is welcome to come out and worship with them.

On Monday, Jan. 14 come out and have a relaxing afternoon with your family and friends playing military whist. The cards start moving at 1:30 p.m. and it doesn’t matter if you played before or not, they would love to have everyone out and enjoy a great afternoon with them. This is held in the Botha Seniors’ Centre.

Quilting time; everyone is invited out to do some quilting with your friends and neighbors every second and last Monday of the month. The next quilting session is scheduled for Jan. 31, so come on out ladies and do some quilting, These start at 9:30 a.m. at the Botha Seniors’ Centre,
