Nibourg rink mixed curling bonspiel winners

The district has been enjoying some very warm weather lately and the first day of spring was gorgeous; ideal weather for those with cows calving.

A group of Endiang-Byemoor floor curlers were to Castor last Monday for an enjoyable day of floor curling. Those attending from here were Joe Knowles, Ben Kobi, Irene Brooker, Eleanor Schultz, Ken Schultz, Carol Stulberg, Della Jones and Cliff Donald.

The Endmoor Drop-In Centre held their crib night on Tuesday. It was Ken Schultz who posted the best score while Margaret Sacuta was second. Next crib night is on April 6.

Friday was the last day of school, as spring break has started and will be enjoyed by students, teachers, staff and bus drivers alike. Classes will resume on March 29.

Wes Jones and Miles Jones both spent a few days in the Hanna hospital. Hope you are feeling better now.

Sonny and Terry Gallant spent the weekend at Camrose where they enjoyed the spring rodeo there.

Byemoor was a busy place on the weekend. At the arena on Saturday, the novice hockey team played teams from Consort and Delburne. Then on Sunday, the novice team played against their parents and with some awesome skill and the extraordinary coaching of Rob Maginn they were victorious over the parents.

The mixed curling bonspiel wrapped up on Sunday at the Byemoor curling rink with 13 teams entered. In the A Event top spot was claimed by the rink of Tony, Clara and Luke Nibourg and Morris Schilling, 2nd – Dave Nixon, 3rd – John Schofer, 4th – Eldon McCrindle.

B Event, 1st – Krissy Jack, 2nd – Gregg Nixon, 3rd – Miles Jones.

C Event, 1st – Dean Jones, 2nd – Eugene Nixon, 3rd – Justin Jones, 4th – Brittiany Keith.

Jennifer Dittman and her boys Tristin, Leland and Milo of Calgary spent several days visiting with her parents Lyle and Shannon Knowles, other family and friends.

Some local folks attended the memorial service for the late Jim Brown of Erskine on Sunday afternoon in Stettler. Our sympathy to the Brown family.

Ken and Eleanor Schultz and Audrey Grover returned on Sunday from a trip to Great Falls, Montana where they watched their grandsons, Kyle Mohl and Keifer Grover, play hockey with the Hanna Colts midget team. The Hanna team had a win and a tie. On the return trip they played a game in Warner which they won. Way to go boys and good luck at the Provincials in Slave Lake.

The annual Boar’s Cup hockey tournament is coming up this Thursday through Sunday at the Byemoor arena. This will wrap up the hockey season in Byemoor.

Mark these upcoming events on your calendar: The next meeting of the Endiang Centennial Committee will be on Sunday, April 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Endiang Hall.

There will be a funspiel hosted by the local floor curlers at the Endiang Hall on Monday, April 12 starting at 9:30 a.m. Anyone wishing to enter contact Ken at 579-2344.

The Sullivan Lake West Ag. Society presents its annual Bull-a-rama at the arena in Byemoor on Friday, April 16.

The Chevelles are coming to Byemoor on May 15. They are a live band featuring rock music from the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s. Watch for further details on how to get your tickets.
