New Year’s Eve party not to be missed - Rumsey Record

Monday, Dec. 20, the ladies from the district went to Trochu to St. Mary’s Health Care Center to host the birthday party of the month. Three ladies celebrated their birthdays that day, Gladys Hogg, Freda Medding and Betty Vickery. Linda had birthday cake for everyone to enjoy and the Vickery family also brought birthday cake as it was the very day of their mother’s birthday.

What a treat for everyone when Betty (Tolman) Moore and her sister Lorraine (Tolman) Hammermiester sang together like they used to many years ago when they were girls growing up at home. Songs and music made the afternoon very enjoyable with Leona Campbell playing the piano.

The January party will be Monday, 17, when Marion Stiekle and her group will be on hand to entertain. Dariel McNaughton will be the hostess. Plan to join in the afternoon and lend a hand.

Christmas is now history for yet another year. Do hope everyone had a good day with family and friends close by.

Here at our house, there were all the family with the exception of Charlene’s group. They spent the day at home in Red Deer. There was a lot of skating, snowmobiling and games. Of course, laughter got in the act also. Cody was home from his studies at NAIT and it was nice to hear all about his studies and city living. Linda and Earl came from Blackfalds and Ken’s family live right here in the same yard, so we had a lot of fun.

Please phone me with your special company over the holidays as it makes interesting reading.

Best wishes to Fred Upton, who had to go into hospital on Christmas day with some strange pains. Hope your stay is not too long, Fred.

Brad Primrose is now home from Red Deer hospital where he spent a few days having surgery and recuperating enough to get home for Christmas.

Holiday greetings and good wishes to Marie Hampton as she continues her stay in Drumheller hospital and also happy birthday on Dec. 22.

Jean Richmond of Trochu celebrated her December birthday with friends coming in for tea in the afternoon.

December birthdays seem to not be as much fun as in the other months of the year. Monday, Dec. 27 is Ernie’s birthday.

I know David Newton has a December birthday also.

There will be news going in on January 2nd so give me a call.

The Rumsey Ag. Society are all set up for the New Year’s Eve party and dance in the Rumsey hall, so maybe that could be included in your plans. There will be a live band; “Bill Cole” from Drumheller. The entry fee includes a midnight lunch and party favours. For more information, call Rhonda at 368-2220 or Gwen at 368-2169.
