The New Year’s Eve family dance in Byemoor was well-attended on Dec. 31.
The crowd enjoyed dancing to the music of Dally Up and Dance from Hanna. At midnight, all adjourned outdoors for a fantastic fireworks display put on by Palmer Altin, bringing in 2025 with great pizzazz.
Sharon McCrindle accompanied her daughters Vicki Flynn from Carlyle, Saskatchewan, and Darlene Webb from Veteran, Alberta, on a trip to Victoria, B.C., in early December.
They visited Butchart Gardens, which had an incredible Christmas light display. They also toured other sites in Victoria and got the opportunity to visit with several of Sharon’s cousins, the children of her mother’s sisters Mickey and Nonie. The trip was a birthday celebration for Sharon and Darlene, who were celebrating their 75th and 50th birthdays.
Sympathy is extended to the family of Blake Clausen who passed away in Red Deer on Dec. 22 at the age of 84. Blake was a lifelong resident of the Byemoor community. He was the youngest son of Andrew and Alma Clausen and grew up in the Leo–Hackett area northwest of Byemoor.
He married Joyce Reeves and they farmed in the same district where they raised their family of four children – Renee, Sherry, Gerald and Dennis. Besides farming and being active in the community, Blake was also well known for his service on the Dairy Board and his Solar Dugout Watering System, which he marketed. Blake and Joyce had a farm sale in June, but unfortunately, health issues did not allow Blake to enjoy his retirement.
Our thoughts are with Joyce and their family in their sad loss of this fine man.
Larry and Lorene Stulberg, along with their family Alicia, Cody, Hayden, Easton and Tesily Scheerschmidt and Krystal, Bud, Jack and Boyd Stoutenberg, spent Christmas at Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. They enjoyed the resort, beaches and warmth of the Caribbean sun during their week-long vacation and returned home on Dec. 27.
Sharon McCrindle joined her son and family – Heath, Angie, Bryce and Kenzie McCrindle from Red Deer – on a holiday to the Hawaiian island of Maui. They spent a week touring and enjoying the beauty and warmth of the island paradise for a nice break from Canadian winter, returning home on Jan. 3.
Sympathy is sent to the family of Margaret Sacuta who passed away in Stettler on Jan. 3 at 85 years of age. Margaret (McMillan) married Nick Sacuta and was a long-time resident of the Byemoor community following their marriage. They farmed in the Leo district northwest of Byemoor where they raised their family of three – Walter, Peggy and Gayle. Margaret was a teacher at the Byemoor School and was a very active member of the community; many will have fond memories of her in those roles. She later retired to Stettler.
Our thoughts are with Margaret’s children Walter, Peggy and Gayle and their families in their sad loss. Margaret will be long-remembered for her kindness and soft-spoken manner.
