William E. Hay Composite High School in Stettler congratulates the newly elected students’ union executive for the 2010-2011 school year. Jessica Harvey will be the union president, Jorgen Rangen vice-president, Eric George will be our social convenor, Justina Nibourg is our secretary and Woody Brown is the new treasurer.
On Thursday, June 3, Students Against Drinking and Driving (SADD) members were presented with an award for teamwork. This award was given by Stacie Pederson as part of the Youth Traffic Safety Conference, which was held in October 2009. From this youth conference SADD members held a “buckle-in” event with support from the RCMP in March 2010. Thank-you to all for supporting SADD, it’s been another great year.
Stettler Wildcats football team won all four of their games in Canmore on Friday. The Wildcat offense had a great day as they had success both running and passing the football.
Also congratulations goes out to the many students who participated in the track provincials this past weekend. Congratulations to Alana Skocdople who won a gold in the 3000m and a silver in the 1500m and to Buddy Brown who won a bronze in the 3000m and another bronze in the 1500m. Wm. E. Hay students, once again represented our school and our community well.
On Thursday, June 9, Wm. E. Hay will be having a Denim Day in order to raise awareness of and show support for victims of breast cancer. On a similar note, Wm. E. Hay has entered three teams in the local Relay for Life on June 18. Two “Be the Change Teams” and one teacher Team will be participating in this powerful and unforgettable event.
In appreciation of the businesses and community members who employ our work experience and Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP) students, our off campus program will be hosting an appreciation BBQ on Thursday, June 10.
As our year begins to wind up a reminder of a few very important days – the last day of classes for grade 9-11 students is on June 21. Exams run from June 22-25. Please do not schedule holidays during exams.
