A total fire ban went into effect last week in the whole of central Alberta, due to the extremely dry conditions. Residents are asked to be extra careful around their yards.

A lifetime resident and a veteran of the Second World War, Dick Hughes, passed away on April 2 in the Stettler hospital. Sympathy is extended to his brother, Stan, of Calgary and his many friends.

Congratulations to Shawn and Staci Charbonneau on the birth of a second daughter, Rylee Anne, born on March 5 in the Stettler hospital and weighing 8 lb 3 oz. The Charbonneaus have two and half year old Addison at home to help with the babysitting.

Congratulations to Chad and Leighann ( Doan ) Reimer of Three Hills on the birth of an 8 lb 9 oz baby girl, Ellie Kade, born on March 29. Ellie’s siblings are a sister, Dailey, and brother, Jackson. Proud grandparents are Bernie and Bernice Doan.

Evan was being welcomed by family members as they celebrated Easter Sunday dinner with the proud grandparents, Doan and Sherry Jamieson. Anne Neilson and her floor curling team of Shirley Brodersen, Dora Morasch and Rose Koenraadt took part in the Stetter seniors’ spiel on Monday.

A happy birthday to Melinda Kent, who celebrated her 40th birthday on Saturday with a gathering of family members. On Sunday, the Kent family and the Walker family met at Rick and Lisa Kents’ home to celebrate Easter.

Visiting with Wally and Linda Lehmann at the weekend was Linda’s son Spencer Cipperley and family of Innisfail, who also called on Grandma Amelia Haynes at Pine Ridge in Stettler.
