The month of April is almost over and that means that you only have one week left to register for the Write On! workshop at the Stettler Public Library. Fran Kimmel will be presenting a workshop entitled “Speaking of Dialogues” on Wednesday, April 28, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Fran will be exploring shortcuts for inventing exchanges between characters that move a story along. There are only six spots left, so register by calling 403-742-2292 or by e-mailing spl@libs.prl.ab.ca. Soup and sandwiches will be provided.

Spring weather has brought an end to the after-school program but it doesn’t happen right away. The last after-school program day will be on Thursday, April 29, from 4 to 5 p.m. It is for ages six to 10 and we will have games, crafts and other fun stuff. We hope to see you here at the Stettler Public Library.

Do you enjoy reading “lighter” books? Are you looking for a group of like-minded women to talk about them with? Join us for the Brain Candy Book Club starting next fall. We are currently trying to find a good time to hold this book club. If you are interested in participating, please e-mail Heidi at heidi@libs.prl.ab.ca or call her at 403-742-2292 and let her know which day is good for you.

E-audiobooks are now available through the Stettler Public Library and Parkland Regional Library’s catalogue. You can have up to ten e-audiobooks checked out at a time. They will automatically expire on the due date, unless you renew them. There is no need to return them. There are three ways to access an e-audiobook from Parkland Regional Library: 1) Download it to your own computer to listen to it or transfer it to an MP3 player or iPod; 2) Download it to a library computer, then move the file to a USB drive, take it home and transfer the file to your computer for later listening or transferring or 3) Download it to a library computer, then move the file directly to your MP3 player. For further instructions, stop by the library for a step-by-step instruction guide or e-mail Crystal at astassistant@libs.prl.ab.ca and she can send you the instruction guide.

In May, the Stettler Public Library will be doing some rearranging of various collections in your library. This rearranging includes the moving of shelving units and a large number of books. If you are interested in volunteering with this task, please contact us at 403-742-2292 or e-mail us at spl@libs.prl.ab.ca.
