Musicians Armand Brothers entertain Byemoor community

ENDIANG/BYEMOOR NEWS -- Darcy Tucker from Toronto spent a few days at Endiang visiting members of the Tucker family. A highlight for his nephew Kai Tucker and members of his Castor novice hockey team was when the former NHL player attended their hockey practice in Castor and offered some coaching tips.

Santa Claus Day in Byemoor was well-attended on Saturday. The 4-H members had a warm day to sell their Christmas trees. The little ones got a visit with Santa and a candy bag, while the adults enjoyed the craft and bake sale. Paige Jones won the 50/50 draw.

Rylee Jones donated the proceeds of the hand-made crafts she sold on Saturday to Ronald McDonald House. She raised more than $400 for this worthy cause. Rylee has a big heart for a little girl.

Crib at the Endmoor Drop-In Centre on Thursday afternoon saw Jean Mappin post the top score, while Eleanor Schultz posted the second best score. Next crib meet will be on Thursday, Dec. 15 at 1 p.m.

Gordie Gallagher was honoured with a surprise retirement party at the Byemoor Hotel on Saturday evening. The Gallagher family gathered at the hotel for pizza night and afterwards Gordie was joined by many other family, friends and work colleagues. Gordie has worked for Husky Energy for 30 or more years. We hope you enjoy your retirement to the fullest, Gordie.

The Byemoor Hotel had entertainment on Saturday evening, with the Armand Brothers band playing to a full house.

Rod and Angela Yates enjoyed a trip to Las Vegas in celebration of their recent 25th wedding anniversary.

Pat and Sandra Keith babysat their grandsons Carson and Tucker Devaleriola while the boys' parents T.J. and Nicole Devaleriola spent a week in Las Vegas.

Gary and Dolores Pearson enjoyed a vacation to Jamaica and also attended the wedding of their niece there. The bride is the daughter of Barbara (Pearson) Szapko and granddaughter of Olwin Pearson.

Dale and Dee Green spent some time at the Fairmont Hot Springs in B.C. where they enjoyed a little rest and relaxation after a busy fall.

Rob and Hunter Maginn were in Saskatchewan for a hunting trip last week.

We send birthday greetings to Jack Grams who celebrated his 86th birthday on Dec. 5 and to Gordon (Tick) Walker celebrating his 75th birthday on Dec. 10. Enjoy your special day, guys.

Get well wishes are extended to Sena Walker who is recovering from a broke ankle following a fall on ice. Hope your recovery is speedy, Sena.

Scapa Community Christmas Concert is on Saturday, Dec. 17 at the Scapa Hall. A pot-luck supper kicks the evening off at 5:30 p.m. Turkey will be supplied. Byemoor School Christmas Concert is on Monday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. at the Byemoor Hall with everyone welcome.

St. Peter's Lutheran Church candlelight Christmas service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 22 at 7 p.m. and is open to all.
