Midfield Supply closes its doors after 15 years of operation

Midfield Supply, an oilfield supply company, has closed its doors after 15 years of operation in the village. The staff and the stock will be re-located to the Stettler office and will continue to serve its customers from that location. It is always sad when our small village looses a business.

There will be a few garage sales in Halkirk on Friday, June 11, with a BIG one being held as a fund raiser at the Seniors’ Centre. Any and all donations to the centre will be most welcome. This date was picked in conjunction with a Halkirk/Castor consignment equipment sale held at Dick Creasey’s farm.

Farming is well under way with the moisture conditions good.

Jillian Schaffner, who sings with the Gracenotes choir out of Stettler, was among the group who traveled to New York City last week to compete in the Heritage Festival there. Congratulations to the choir who received outstanding marks and was awarded a Gold with an invitation to Carnegie Hall in 2011-12. The group which also included Jillian’s mom, Ellyn, shopped in Times Square, China Town and Little Italy, went to Carnegie Hall, the Museum of Natural History, Madame Tussard’s Wax Museum, Ground Zero, Rockefeller Centre, Six Flags Adventure Park, saw Tosca at the Met and Wicked on Broadway. Wow!

Shane Neilson and Wyatt Kent accompanied the Castor Air Cadets to the Natook gliding centre in South Bowden on Saturday where the boys got to ride in a glider. Dale and Melody Kent and Rick and Lisa Kent went along to watch.

Lorne and Karen Dewart, Terry and Peggy Vockeroth and Jan and Rose Koenraadt were among those who attended a benefit evening for Travis Glasier and family in Coronation on Thursday evening.
