Men’s and ladies’ bonspiels next week

Deepest sympathy is extended to Kathy Muncy and her family, Rhonda, Ron, Charles and Keith and their families on the passing of Ken at the weekend. Services were held at the Halkirk Hall on Monday, Feb. 28. The Muncy story appears on page 300 of Halkirk’s history book.

Word has been received on the passing of Byron Gale of Sundre on Jan. 30 at 90 years of age. The Gale family lived on land now owned by Helen Morel. See Halkirk Home Fires p 485. He was married to Eve Schaffner, who passed away in 1980. He is survived by his second wife, Edna and three children, Pat, Shirley and Wendall as well as the Schaffner family members.

Our sympathies are extended to the Wiart family on the passing of a grand old gentleman, Ray Wiart of Castor who was in his 99th year.

Condolences go out to Mike and Gail Anderson and family on the passing of Gail’s mom, Betty Ferris of Stettler.

Our community sends sympathy to the Mueller and Gebhardt families in the Westwood area on their losses.

Our sympathies go out to Nora Hockens and Bob Gonda on the passing of Nora’s mother who lived in Innisfail.

We send birthday greetings out to Marg Sorensen who celebrated the BIG 65 on Sunday, Feb. 20 with family and friends at Kirk and Suzanne’s home.

Doug and Virginia Duke attended the wedding of Brad and Celiste Howe held recently in Red Deer.

Lowell and Jannette Berry celebrated Family Day with their daughter Nancy and Greg Chick.

David and Linda Chick celebrated Family Day with their children at Kurt and Erin’s. The whole family were able to attend.

Brian Kent and Mel’s sister, Catharine McKnight from Sherwood Park were recent visitors with the Kent family.

Ron and Deirdre Muncy, Carl and Sharon Borgel and Paul and Velma Schofield returned from a week vacation in Los Vegas recently. The group did the touristy things like visit the Grand Canyon and see Hoover Dam.

The Halkirk Curling Club will be holding its men’s and ladies’ open bonspiels starting the week of March 7. Phone entries to JD or Sandra Johnson at 884-2250. Be sure to stop by, have burger and watch some of the games.
