Master rain dancer required

RUMSEY RECORD -- What beautiful weather we had this weekend, I am sure the farmers will be out in the field getting the seed in the ground.

RUMSEY RECORD -- What beautiful weather we had this past weekend, I am sure the farmers will be out in the field getting the seed and fertilizer in the ground. I hope the rain also comes. If you know someone who can do a good rain dance, tell him/her to get busy.

There isn't a lot of news this week since everyone is busy with spring work. In April, the ladies from Rumsey hosted their monthly birthday party at St. Mary's lodge in Trochu. They celebrated Yvonne Van Caveuenberge, Christel Jakob, Marline Riley's birthdays in Extended Care. In the Lodge, Leo Knievel was the only birthday person. Thank you to Donna Sengaus for bringing over a delightful cake and hosting the party. Next month, Pat Hatt will be the hostess.

Mark on your calendars for Samantha Richmond and Brandon Nemetz's community shower on Wednesday, May 18 at 7:30 at the Hall. Their wedding is set for June 18 on the ranch.

Dariel McNaughton also called to let me know that the Historical Society is excited to announce that the new history book is good to be revealed on June 10. There will be a supper and a short ceremony. Plan to purchase your new book at this event.

The local 4-H Beef club is putting the last finish on their calves this month as the show and sale will be the first Monday in June. So good luck to our local club.

As you start to plan your garden plots this year and have a young gardener in your house, maybe consider saving a small plot 12' by 12' of ground for them to plant their own garden. The Red River Garden club (the Rumsey club) is including this in their entries for their annual show on Aug. 31. These are the following requirements: They need to be 12' x 12' with a sign stating your name and age. You can design your garden as you like. You will be required to grow five vegetables: carrots, cucumbers, beans, corn and one other of your choice. Flowers: pansies, sweet peas, marigolds, zinnias and then one of your choice. We hope to get around to judge the plots this year. Please contact Mary Newton at 403-368-2121 leave a message if she is not home

Hope you get a giggle:

Two factory workers were talking. "I know how to get some time off from work." said the man.

"How do you think you will do that?" said the other one. He proceeded to show her...by climbing up to the rafters, and hanging upside down.

The boss walked in, saw the worker hanging from the ceiling, and asked him what on earth he was doing? "I'm a light bulb" answered the guy.

"I think you need some time off," said the boss. So, the man jumped down and walked out of the factory. The second worker began walking out too. The boss asked her where did she think she was going?

"Home. I can't work in the dark."

Have a great week.
