Monday evening, in the Rumsey Agriplex, a meeting of the Rumsey Red Deer River Garden Club was held to begin plans for the 2010 annual flower show in August. Aug. 25 will be the 66th annual flower show for our small town. Within the years, we have hosted the provincial show as well as celebrated special years. Grandchildren and great grandchildren of some of the original members are now making up the membership of the club.
Mary Newton is the president of the club and Dianna McBride is the secretary-treasurer.
Long awaited moisture arrived this week in our area. What a difference a little moisture makes to the countryside. Right here at Rumsey, most folks reported two inches of rain/snow mix but not too far to the north, three inches were reported.

Ball teams are up and going in the area now so you can see ball practise or games most any night of the week at the sports grounds.
Bar Harbour United Church Camp dates are out, so if you are considering sending your children to camp this summer, registrations are now being accepted. Dates times and age groups are as follows; Scamper camps, ages 6-8 #1 camp July 18-20, #2 camp Aug 8-10. Junior camps; ages 9-12 #1 camp July 4-9, #2 camp July 11-16, #3 camp July 25-30. Intermediate camp ages 13-15 July 20-24 and August 2-7. Crafts, hiking, swimming, chapel, games, sports, bonfires, and good food.
Sunday, May 9 is Mother’s Day and the Rumsey Fire Dept. will be having their annual Mother’s Day breakfast from 9 to11 a.m. in the Rumsey Community Hall. Plan to take mom or grandma out to breakfast.
The 2010 grad night for the Morrin High School grade 12 class will be held Friday, June 11.
June 11 is also the “Relay For Life” in Drumheller.
June 7 is the day of the 4-H Beef Club Show and Sale in Delia. Our Rumsey club shows second this year.
Looking further into the month of August is the STARS ride on Sunday Aug. 8 and this year’s flower show will be Wednesday, Aug. 25. Mark your calendars.
