Many vacationing in warmer regions

Big Valley slumbers under a blanket of snow as our winter weary residents go about their daily routines. Each morning we are greeted by the beauty of hoar frost covering our trees with a magical frosting. Is there any news? There should be and yet it seems there is nothing new to report.

Many of our residents have deserted us for warmer climates; sunshine and gentle breezes beckoning them south as they forget about us back here in the cold. Mexico, Belize, Florida, Arizona; the list of exotic destinations leaves those of us left behind yearning for the end of winter.

Village business moves along steadily, not pausing because of our absent compatriots. There are birthday parties and celebrations occurring; bingo and crib games being played. Board meetings are determining this year’s business and hockey tournaments are determining this year’s champions. Yet the enthusiasm to report these events seems to have disappeared and all is silent as we halfheartedly slog through these winter days.

Valentine’s Day will soon be here and the Family Day weekend is just around the corner. Darkness is delaying its appearance a little more each evening and there, just in the distance, slightly out of reach, we can see it.

Spring! New leaves, warm breezes, sunshine and maybe, just maybe…some more news!!
