Many programs for kids get underway at the library - Literally Yours

Stimulating growth and nurturing living things are services that the Stettler Public Library provides in an abstract way. We stimulate growth by providing books and services that allow you to grow as a person. A book can make a large impression and can inspire some great conversations with other people. We nurture you by making books and services available that you enjoy and will encourage you to learn.

Echoglen Gardens and the Community Gardens are going to help you nurture your garden and stimulate growth in your flowers on Saturday, April 30, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Stettler Public Library. Everyone is welcome to bring questions and the experts will help you with your gardening dilemma. There will be a display of gardening books for you to browse through, as well.

The first week of May sees the library offering special programming to make gifts for moms and to help get the kids moving. Fitapalooza is the after-school get-your- body-moving-in-the-library program for school-aged children and it will make its debut on Tuesday, May 3 from 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Stettler Public Library is excited to have CJ Oprea lend her expertise in getting the kids moving.

Preschool children also have a chance to get moving on Wednesdays from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. with Itsy Bitsy Yoga. Children and their big people will bend and stretch and pose like trees in this interactive program. Sarah will also throw in some rhymes and maybe a story or two. You really don’t want to miss it.

The Stettler Public Library is saluting moms with two special Something Cool After School programs for school-aged children. Every mom would love a Mother’s Day basket and children will have an opportunity to fulfill Mom’s wish when they come to the library on Wednesday, May 4 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. The kids will be making a wonderful Mother Day’s basket that would please anyone.

On Thursday, May 5 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., the kids will be “Growing the Paper” at the second special Something Cool After School. Kids will be making paper imbedded with seeds that you can plant in a flower bed or garden. Wouldn’t that make a lovely Mother’s Day card? There is no registration necessary for any of these library programs and we would love to see you.

Karen Olafson, a registered dietician, is presenting an infant nutrition and baby food class at the library on Tuesday, May 10 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. You don’t need to bring anything but your baby and yourselves and Karen will teach you about what foods are best for your child and how to prepare them.

Are you looking for something fun to do as a family? Why not come to the Stettler Public Library to see a movie? Bring your own snack and join us on Tuesday, May 17 for Justin Bieber: Never Say Never and on Tuesday, May 24 for Gnomeo and Juliet. Show time for both movies is 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. If you can’t make these showings, the Stettler Public Library will be adding these movies to our collection.

As you can see, the Stettler Public Library has many possibilities to help you grow and we love to nurture that growth.
