Many activities take summer break

As we move into June, students are preparing for their exams and finishing up their subjects before the 2014-15 school year comes to an end.

As we move into June now, students will be preparing for their final exams and finishing up their remaining subjects before the 2014-15 school year comes to an end. Boy, this year ended quickly with the students getting out in about three weeks and getting anxious for their summer break. The Grade 5 students are also anxious to move on to another school (Stettler) as they head into Grade 6 for the next years term.

Some activities will be quickly ending quickly this coming month until after harvest in the fall. One of these activities will be the quilting club. So make sure you come and join them at the seniors' centre on Monday, June 8, as they will be winding down their projects until fall sometime. This starts at 9:30 a.m. and everyone is welcome.

Another event that has ended now until fall is the seniors' meeting. Their last meeting was held on Monday June 1, and they hope everyone has a great summer and hope to see everyone back in the fall.

Sunday June 28, will be the last Old Time Dance before it ends to for the summer months. So make sure you come out that afternoon, starting at 1:30 p.m. for a great time and dance to the music from the "Country Fiddle Band." The theme for this dance will be Hawaiian, so dress accordingly.

Coffee hour will continue through the summer months starting at 10 a.m. and they would like to see everyone take a break away from their busy schedules and join them.

Another event that will continue through the summer months is floor curling. This takes place every Wednesday and Thursday afternoon starting at 1 p.m.So make sure you join them in the fun. They would love to see everyone out for this.

Bingo evenings also continue through the summer months, every second Wednesday evening starting at 7:15 p.m., doors open at 6:30. A big "congratulations" goes out to the jackpot winner at the last Bingo evening on Wednesday, May 27.

The next monthly village meeting will be held the evening of June 25, starting at 7 p.m. These are very important meetings and they would like to see everyone attend.

Casino nights are June 27 and 28, so if you can help out with this, please call Lorraine Hankins at 403-742-3937. This would be very much appreciated, thank you. The money earned for this stays in the community, so this activity helps our village in upcoming projects that need doing. A big thank you in advance for helping out.
