A popular shortcut to fame and fortune appears to have been ditched by the communities in central Alberta as this year’s “Red Deer’s Got Talent” has been called off due to lack of interest.
A statement from the organization that produces the event said there would be no talent competition in Red Deer area in 2011.
The organization said in a statement that it “regrets to announce that we are unable to host our 2011 talent search due to a shortfall of registrations. Unfortunately, not enough avenues were available to us in order for us to reach enough registrants in a timely fashion for 2011.”
The statement said, however, that, despite the cancellation, the organization was able to meet its commitment to provide support to a charity and several art scholarships with the income generated through fundraisers.
“We have returned all the registration fees and corporate sponsorship monies to the appropriate parties,” the statement said.
Talent shows continue to enjoy huge following in many countries around the world.
