October is just around the corner and the Stettler Public Library has so much to offer. Do you have a library card? Come and get your free library card. You don’t need a library card to attend these free programs.

Our next Film Circuit movie at the Jewel Theatre is Oct. 1 at 7:30 p.m. when we travel to Iran for the movie “Ava.” Ava’s life is dictated by rules. Coming of age in Iran, she faces pressure to conform to the expectations of her parents, her school and her friends. When she learns that her parents were once flagrant rule breakers themselves, she begins to rebel against the very foundations of her society.

Are you obsessed with Pokemon to the point that you can’t get enough? Well, the Stettler Public Library is the place for you to be on Wednesdays at 4 p.m. Join Jasper for the Pokemon Swap Meet! Bring your friends and your cards and play, battle, and trade your favourite Pokemon.

Something Cool after School is going to have fun with something big and orange on Oct. 4 at 4 p.m. Enjoy the book “Big Pumpkin” and then test your skills and brain power to see if you can move a pumpkin with just string!

On Oct. 5 PD Day is covered at the Stettler Public Library. We are digging out the Perler beads and you can use your imagination to create something to decorate your room, desk or locker. Ages eight and up are invited to join us at 1 p.m. for some intense crafting.

Do you need something for the kids to do while you are doing last minute Thanksgiving shopping or baking? Send them to the Library for the Super Smash Bros. Gaming Tournament at 1 p.m. Battle your friends for Super Smash Bros. supremacy.

Are you looking for a book club but don’t know where to find one? Check out the Stettler Public Library! Join us on Oct. 30 at 6:30 p.m. as we follow along with the Amnesty International’s Book Selection “The Break” by Katherena Vermette. Copies of the book are available at the library. Tea and coffee will be served.

The Stettler Public Library will be closed on Oct. 8 so that the staff can enjoy Thanksgiving with their families.
