Lots of action in Rumsey for curlers of all ages

Did March come in like a lamb or a lion? It was really hard to tell. Maybe we have to wait until the end of the month to evaluate.

Beginning Sunday, March 6, the Rumsey curling club hosted the annual mixed bonspiel with 33 teams competing. The activity of the community centered around the curling rink. There was a good crowd out to the oyster supper on Thursday evening as well as a full house for supper on Saturday night when the ‘spiel was over.

Winning the bonspiel was the Shelby Primrose rink and she had with her , her Dad Tim, mother Betty, and sister Katie. They beat out the Brooks Watts rink. 3. Cam Grant, Three Hills, 4. Kent Holowath. The Primrose rink won the prize for first place.

Rumsey Ag, Society presented jackets to the winners of the winter’s open league winner Ian Michie and his daughters, Serena Alex and Maryanne Jensen.

Winners of the ladies’ open league were Leah Watts, Elaine Wiesse, Brittany Cawiezel, and Wendy Watts.

In the junior curling, there is a competition of “so you think you’re tough” and the winners for this year were Avery Warner, Cody Hodge and Cera Cawiezel.

The Morrin Ag. Society are planning a mixed bonspiel to be held on the hockey ice surface on April 4-9.

Sheldon Kashuba and Laurel Walker are being married in Edmonton on April 1. In lieu of a community shower, there will be a monetary gift given. To be a part of this gift, contact Carrie Stoneman, Jean Primrose, or Carol Kashuba. before the wedding date. The couple are registered at Homeoutfitters.com.

The date of the Rumsey Ag. Society’s “Spring Fling” is April 16. at the Rumsey Community Hall.

Rumsey 4-H Beef club are the host of this year’s show and sale on Monday, June 6 in Delia.

March 20 will be the date of the next service in the Morrin United Church when Rev. Harold and Amy Hunter will be in attendance. 10:30 a.m. is the time.

Get well wishes to all the patients in hospital this week. Marily Kopjar is in Lethbridge with her folks who are both confined to hospital and Sharon Goddard is in Edmonton where her father is in hospital.
