Longtime watercolour artist Glenda Bravely opened an exhibition she called “Nifty Fifty Show” t the Donalda Art Gallery on Saturday, May 22 to mark her 50 years in painting.

Bravely, who got her degree in arts from Iowa State University in the United States, has not only been painting but also lecturing on arts for several decades.

With her paintings displayed in various art galleries in various countries, including those in Europe, Bravely says she started painting mainly in oil, but gradually shifted to watercolour, the style in which she produced her most remarkable work.

The current exhibition features more than 70 of Bravely’s watercolour paintings completed in a period going back to several years.

“I have been painting since I was a child,” said Bravely in a brief interview.

“I like to work outdoors and I do like to paint nature.”

A member of Alberta Society of Artists as well as of Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour, Bravely’s work is said to be on display at between seven and 10 commercial galleries on a regular

basis.
