Local students graduate high school - Halkirk Herald

Congratulations to Alison Dahmer, Kyle Godbersen, Jade Malloy and Samantha Neilson who all graduated from Castor and to Brianne Brodersen and Victoria Ruddell who graduated from Stettler.

Ralph and Norma Stock were in the area for the grad. Jade’s grandmother from Montreal was also able to attend. Mike Neilson and Brenda Haggerty were also here for the event.

Mel and Dale Kent attended the Stettler grad for niece, Amy Nattestad.

Sympathy to the family of Leoise Hauck who passed away on May 18 at the Castor Extendicare. Mrs. Hauck taught school for 35 years in Alberta and Saskatchewan, including the grade one class in Halkirk in 1965. A private family burial took place on May 20.

Sympathy to the family of Mel Haeberle who passed away on Saturday. Funeral services will be held on Friday June 3rd at the hall in Halkirk at 2:00.

Brent and Ellyn Schaffner attended the Volleyball Nationals in Calgary at the weekend where Max played with a 16U team from Camrose.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper was in attendance to watch his son Ben play on a 15U team.

The deadline for the History book is fast approaching so make sure you’re not missed. On June 4th, you will have the opportunity to get your family picture taken at the playground by the hall from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. If the weather is bad, they will have pictures at the seniors’ center. The cost for this is $20.

On June 15th your input is required, as there will be a meeting to plan Halkirk’s 100th birthday at the hall at 7 p.m. The committee is looking for any ideas you may have.
