Warmer weather and longer daylight hours are making outdoor activities more appealing.

This summer, we’re bringing back our monthly Historic Ghost Walk for the eighth year. Twice a month, long-time Stettler resident and dedicated library staff member, Crystal, will guide you on a twilight stroll through downtown Stettler with stories about the dark side of the heart of Alberta’s past that might make you shiver.

Learn about the victims and villains who peopled our past with their murders and misdemeanours on June 13 or June 21, at 8:30 p.m. Tickets for this popular event are available at the library, $10/person, ages 10 and up.

Combine your taste for great food with your love of good books by joining Novel Bites Supper Club, Wed, June 11, 6:30 p.m. at New Horizon Restaurant, 4919 – 49 St. Grab a copy from the library of this month’s thriller novel, The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides, then join us for the lively discussion. Participants purchase their own refreshments.

What if you could create beauty out of an explosion? Come to Something Cool After School on June 5, at 4 p.m., when we make explosive art! Create the look of stained glass with amazing tape resist art on June 10, at 4 p.m. Return on June 12 at 4 p.m. when we’ll be forming fun messages with Scrabble tiles. Ages 6 and up.

Step into the energy of a glow party and hit the floor. Dance to your favourite tracks, hang out with friends, and light up the night on June 13, 6 p.m. Ages 10 and up.  Enjoy music, lights, glow sticks, & snacks!  Bring your best moves and let’s glow crazy!

We always have fun listening to stories and singing songs at Read & Rhyme, so bring your little ones (birth to 5 years) on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Fridays at 10:30 a.m. Keep the reading going by tracking it with the free app 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. Then come to the library for your small prize each time you reach your family reading goals.
